Anna Burgason

First-year, Management and Spanish double-major

What do you hope to accomplish as a CSB Senator? Be as specific as possible.

I hope to give the underclassmen a louder voice. I hope to raise Senate awareness and make it more approachable to the students. I feel as though this year’s Senate-student body communication was lacking.

As President, I plan to promote leadership, dedication, passion and determination among my fellow senators so that we as a whole Senate we can accomplish our goals and fulfill our duties to the CSB/SJU community.

I want to focus on the elections in November—it is more important to get people voting than getting someone to vote for my candidate. Education, advocacy and candidate awareness events will be huge during the fall.

I would like to increase transparency among students and the administration on institutional matters. I would also ensure that the Board of Trustees pays attention to students’ concerns. I would like to further the connection with the students, ensuring that we get full participation in creating a vibrant campus life.

Money is a huge concern with students. As Treasurer, I will make sure the money that the Senate is in charge of goes towards the wants and needs of the student body.

As a CSB Senator, you are the voice of the students and I would hope that my opinions are heard by the staff, faculty, and administrators so that I can help provide all students with the best college experiences.

Tiffany: I want to keep ideas going that 
weren’t able to be accomplished this year, and keep the same ideas that were a success
, such as the readership program, 
Bennie Day, etc.

Jackie: It’s a great opportunity to get more involved in the school. It’s a great way to give back to the school and the community by representing the student body.

I hope to sharpen my organizational and management skills, as well as to add to my experiences. I also want to make the senate more effective and influential.

I hope to gain leadership skills and become more confident in my negotiating skills. I want to bring my financial experience to the Senate, while learning as much as I can about the inner decision-making process at CSB.

I had a different upbringing than most people. I came here out of love and respect for the institutions and monastaries. I am not only ambitious, but an entrepreneur who can do a lot of good for our communities.

I would like to continue with the work that was started this semester (Teacher End of Year evaluations) and anything else that comes up—you can never be sure of what the future awaits. But whatever it is, I will voice the students’ concerns.

We hope to advocate the enactment of a Good Samaritan Policy and help work toward the establishment of a Health Center on CSB campus.

I will propose methods of increasing sources of financial help for students. I will promote a clearer understanding of intercultural competence and make it be a priority for every person accepted to this school, as well as faculty and staff. Our goals are as follows: revision of the SBS website, clear and concise marketing, further utilization of available resources (PR assistant), and improvement of student awareness.

I think that it is important for a student senate to communicate with all of the students. I want to make the flow of communication between senate and students more developed and detailed.
