After contacting the Minn. Department of Transportation last week, the “huge potholes” on the I-94 ramps to St. John’s were fixed without delay.
The weekly siren at St. John’s may be loud, and it may get annoying, but it’s mandatory by state law and for students’ safety. And it is not just for tornadoes or even just severe weather. The outdoor warning siren goes off any time people on campus need to immediately go inside.
You come to college with a “to-do” list of sorts — make new friends, join a team or club, learn a little … perhaps party a lot. And maybe along the way, you’ll leave an imprint here at CSB/SJU, some way today’s first-years will remember your work a year later. Consider it extra credit.
The Record is something I will always be glad I participated in while in college. There are many reasons why I decided to join the student newspaper on campus, but the one I always gravitate toward is the amazing people I got to meet and work with.

The St. Ben’s Senate was the pioneer of an electoral practice in which two candidates, one of whom will be studying abroad, run in the same ballot slot and split their term in office if elected, one holding the position for one semester and the other for the rest of the academic year.

Mass e-mails need to go. I think it probable that every CSB/SJU student has at one point complained about the number of mass e-mails “flooding” the inbox, or that he or she accidentally trashed a message he or she would have liked to read while in “delete mode.”

We are writing with regards to the recent passing of our beloved professor, Dr. Arthur John Spring. Spring was a beautiful person, a wonderful friend and an extraordinary teacher.

Take away Al Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize. Give him another one — literature or art — but the peace prize has got to go. This may seem like a rather extreme claim until you examine the facts.
