The St. John's football team will return to action against St. Thomas at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul.

But there's the chance it may not be the only CSB/SJU sports team at St. Thomas on Saturday.

The Blazer volleyball team will open Central Region tournament Thursday night. With two wins, the Blazers would advance to the region final.

The Blazers (9-2 MIAC, 22-5 overall) will play Nebraska Wesleyan at 6 p.m. in Schoenecker Arena. The arena is just east of O'Shaughnessy.

The Blazers earned a bid — the team's first since 1998 — to the tournament after losing to St. Thomas in the finals of the MIAC playoffs Saturday. Senior Shantelle Needham had 17 kills and 14 digs for the Blazers in a five-game loss to the Tommies.

St. Ben's beat Wesleyan in a tournament in Texas earlier in the season.

Fan bus

The SJU Senate is sponsoring a fan bus to the Johnnie-Tommie game.

Tickets may be picked up at the Student Activities office at either Sexton 210 or Murray 150. The bus will leave the Sexton bus stop at 10 a.m. and the Clemens bus stop at 10:15 a.m.
