Don't break the bank for activities
Do you ever open your wallet to pull out some cash only to discover it's empty? There are many things that students can do around campus for free in order to stretch the $20 their parents just gave them. One place to go is Alcuin Library, which has a wide selection of DVDs. These films, from new releases to old classics, can be checked out for free. At St. Ben's, there is an often untapped resource: The athletic desk at the HCC where students can rent Rollerblades, snowshoes, skis, racquetball rackets, ice skates and a variety of other athletic equipment for free. Other attractions at CSB/SJU are the woods, the pool tables and darts scattered around the campuses and the climbing wall at SJU. All are free except for the climbing wall, where students pay $2 for climbing shoes. During the warmer months, Lake Sag at SJU offers a place to swim or rent a canoe. There are also many free events on campus that students can partake in. The athletic events are free because of the student activity fee. And many of the Fine Arts Events are also free for students. |
