This tune is sometimes called "Avon."

By far, the most popular text set to "Martyrdom" is "Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed," by Isaac Watts. It is also used for "Behold the Glories of the Lamb" (also by Watts), "According to Thy Gracious Word," "We Walk by Faith," two slightly different versions of Psalm 42, plus one Christmas carol ("While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks"), six other psalms, and at least nine more hymns.

Hearing one of these provoked me to go through my hymnals looking for the right common meter tune; I have not verified yet that the text is in the public domain.

The tune is in the public domain worldwide, although this arrangement is mine.
