Responsibilties:
Research: The primary goal of my research is the isolation and characterization of biologically active compounds. In particular, I have been focusing on the search for new antifungal drugs from microbial sources. Using chemical ecology, we can target likely sources of active chemicals. Once a source has been identified, the compound is purified through bioassay guided fractionation. The structures of these compounds can then be determined with analytical techniques such as NMR, MS, IR, and X-Ray Crystallography. Current Research Students:
