Crosswords
Make decisions with Christ in mind

What would Jesus do about finals? That is a question I would like to ask.
It has been a few weeks and I hope this finds you well and prepping for your last week of classes.
Last time I asked if it makes sense to pay attention to the saying "What Would Jesus Do?"
The responses were split as always, but the reasons for the split peaked my interest.
Those who said "No" have a lot of intriguing reasons.
Everything from the fact that because we aren't God we shouldn't try to be, all the way to Jesus didn't deal with the issues we do today.
Both of these reasons refer to the fact that it is hard to use Jesus' actions and apply them to decisions that are made in the moment.
This leads me to those people who said that the saying still does apply today.
Most commented that asking "What Would Jesus Do?" helps us make decisions that lead to the life God would want us to lead. My response would be, how?
So I went out and asked around until I found a few who gave me the above answer and then asked them just that.
After a discussion, we came to a conclusion. When you ask that question you have to pay attention to the grammar.
We are not asking "What Did Jesus Do?" We are asking, looking at how Christ lived and treated people, what would Jesus do in a certain situation?
We may not be God, but that doesn't mean we can't try to act like he did.
In life we are all going to face more decisions than any of us care to count.
Some of them will be easy;,while others will rip us apart in the process.
If you truly think about it, this little saying can be a starting block for even the biggest decisions. What to do in life?
Well, Jesus would ask where you could best use your gifts. Who should you be with?
I believe Jesus would say whoever builds you up most and walks your path with you. Whether to bring a pencil or pen to your final?
Well I hope you can figure that one out on your own.
You will all be in my prayers during this time, and for those of you who have time, it never hurts to throw out a few prayers for your fellow students.
I mean, it is the season of giving. Have a great break and when you get back, keep an eye out for me.
Send me an e-mail telling me what was the best part of break at crosswords@csbsju.edu. Happy Holidays my friends.
Until next time, keep smiling.
