Non-paid positions
- News writers
- Help cover campus events and issues.
Contact Kelly Smith or Matt Smith, news editors, for further

- Opinion columinsts
- Regularly write editorial and columns about various issues.

- Sports writers
- Write news or feature articles about CSB/SJU sports.
Contact Joe Mechtenberg or Tom Mix, sports editors, for further
information.
- Variety writers
- Write about various campus personalities, arts, music and more.
Contact Mary Beutz or Katherine Harlander-Locke, variety editors, for further
information.
- Photographers
- Take photos at various sports, news and variety events on or near
campus. 1-2 events per week.

- Copy editors
- On Wednesday nights, come into the office, proofread stories, eat
Gary's and stay however long you want to.

- Editorial board student reps
- The reps will help to write and review each week's Our View.

Possible stipend positions
Editor in chief and managing editor are elected by the staff in the
spring of each year. Both positions require prior experience as a section
editor.
- Section editors
- Responsible for the quality completion of all the sections. All positions
are currently filled. Section editors usually have prior experience in
other areas of the paper, especially as staff writers.

Advertising department
- Contact Christine Jasken, advertising
manager, at recordad@csbsju.edu, for further information.
Positions can be combined.
- Ad manager
- · Responsible for checking the voice mail and e-mail daily.
· Ensures phone calls and voice mails are returned promptly.
· Delegate inquiries to others within department.
· Reports to the editor in chief and managing editor and serves
as liason from news department to ad dept.
- Ad designer
- · Responsible for designing ads on the computer and placing ads.
· Should have Quark and Photoshop knowledge, but training is
available.
- Current client consultant
- Responsible for following up with current clients and keeping them
happy.
- New client consultant
- Responsible for finding new advertisers by calling local businesses and
other means.
- Billing/accounts
- · Responsible for invoices and billing clients.
· Makes sure everyone who advertises is billed in a timely fashion and
returns invoice.
- Subscriptions manager
- · Responsible for subscription renewal letter in the spring.
· Finds new subscribers via summer orientation and other methods.
· Keeps database and makes labels for all subscribers.
- Business manager
- Manage the Record’s finances.
- Circulation managers
- Responsible for distribution of papers throughout both campuses and
labeling subscriptions on Thursday afternoons. Positions are currently
filled.

- Updates the web site weekly or when needed. Position is currently
